We’re a portable power bank rental service designed to keep you connected wherever you are. Designed to travel with you, our sleek, lightweight power banks include built-in cables for all popular devices. Simply scan the QR code or tap to pay for a smooth, quick, and stress-free rental and return experience.
There's two options when renting a Phone Fuel power bank. You can either tap your phone or contactless card on the terminal and wait a moment for the deposit to be authorised, and the station will release your power bank. Or if you prefer using your phone you can scan the QR code on the station, sign in, add your payment method, tap “Rent Now,” and collect the power bank from the slot with the blinking light. There’s no need to download the app if you don't want to, just scan the QR code on the large screen at any station and rent a power bank. It's simple and fast!
The maximum rental period is 24 hours. If the power bank is not returned within this time, a €50 fee will be charged. Once this fee has been applied, the power bank is yours to keep.
The Phone Fuel app is your personal power bank companion, making it easy to rent a power bank from any Phone Fuel station. Simply use the scan button in the app to scan the QR code on the station and start your rental in seconds. The app also includes an interactive map to help you find the nearest Phone Fuel station, just enter your location in the search bar and explore all the options nearby.
Pricing varies by location and is displayed directly on the station screen. Rentals lasting up to 5 minutes are free of charge.
When you start a rental by tapping your card, your bank temporarily authorises a deposit and the exact amount is shown on the terminal. If the final rental cost is lower than the authorised amount, the difference is automatically refunded. If it exceeds the deposit, an additional charge will be applied.
If the power bank isn’t charging your phone, there may be a few simple reasons. Press the button on the side of the power bank to make sure charging mode is activated, check that the cable is fully inserted into your phone, and ensure your phone’s charging port is clean and unobstructed. If it still doesn’t work, return the power bank to any Phone Fuel station and contact our customer support team.
If less than five minutes have passed since the rental started, you can return it to any available slot to cancel the rental and receive a full refund of the pre-authorised deposit but if the device stops working after about an hour and a half of use, it’s likely running low on battery and you’ll need to rent another one.
A €50 replacement fee is applied only in cases of loss or significant damage. Full details are provided during registration. Normal wear and tear is expected and fully covered.
No, you don’t need to stay in the same venue while your phone is charging. Phone Fuel power banks are designed to be portable, so you can take one with you and charge your phone on the go. Just return it to any compatible Phone Fuel station within the rental period. You can check the location of our stations on our app.
Each Phone Fuel power bank is fully charged before every rental and typically holds enough power to charge a smartphone up to 100%. On average, this equals about 1.5 to 2 full phone charges, depending on your device model and battery size.
When you tap your card to start a rental, your bank temporarily reserves a deposit, this is called a pre-authorisation. Many banks show this as a “pending” transaction, and some may even display it as a charge, but it isn’t an actual payment. It simply confirms that there are enough funds available to cover the rental.
Once your rental ends, the final amount charged will only be the cost of the rental itself. Depending on your bank, it can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few days for the pre-authorised deposit to be released. During this time, it may appear as though your account has been charged twice, but the reserved amount will be removed and you will see that you were charged only once.
If the total rental cost is lower than the reserved deposit, the difference is automatically refunded. If the cost exceeds the deposit, such as in cases where the power bank is returned late or not returned at all, an additional charge will be applied. This may first appear as another pre-authorisation and then as a final charge, which can look like a duplicate transaction, but it follows the same process and is completely normal.
Phone Fuel releases pre-authorised amounts immediately once the power bank is returned, but the time it takes for the funds to appear back in your account depends on your bank. For exact timelines, please contact your bank directly. If needed, we can provide a receipt from our payment provider (Stripe) with full transaction details for you to share with them.

Why does this happen more often with CaixaBank cards?
Most reports of “double charges” come from CaixaBank customers because of how the bank displays transactions. Pre-authorised deposits can look like real charges and aren’t always clearly marked as pending.
After your rental ends, CaixaBank may take some time to release the held deposit. This process is controlled entirely by the bank, not Phone Fuel. In all cases, the situation is resolved once the pre-authorised amount is released, which can take a few days and, in some instances, longer depending on the bank.
In the Phone Fuel app, you can only view the history of rentals that were made and paid for through the app. If you start a rental by tapping your bank card or phone on the station’s POS terminal, the transaction isn’t linked to your app account, so it won’t appear in your rental history.
The rental fee is based on the time between when you take the power bank and when you return it. You only pay for the duration of your rental, so the total cost reflects exactly how long you used the power bank.
